“Seeing Music: Daydreams” is a project centered around the creation of images based on music. The composer, Isaac Schutz, has created five original works of music for the artists to internalize and create art that reflects what they heard. “Seeing Music: Daydreams” will feature the five artists -- Aleta Pérez, Devin Yang, Amari Low Yun, Jade Chiu-Lin, and Lex Zarow -- who have each created three pieces of art to accompany the music. “Seeing Music: Daydreams” is an opportunity to share how composers and visual artists separately and collaboratively create worlds and ideas through their individual mediums and styles. Fae Forest. In a mysterious forest, bells herald watching eyes just out of sight. Its colors are unnatural and subdued, and a fenced path cuts through, inlaid with floating silver. The bells, with darker tones underneath, sound ever so slightly ominous. But it’s just enough that you can’t be quite sure, and as a soft voice rises you wonder if this place is so dangerous after all…. Available as a print here.

Mountain Town. The repeating chords bring to mind slowly floating clouds, and the accordion and violin a town nestled in many trees rising up to the unseen sky. The mountainside itself seems to be shrouded in soft mist. Both elements - the chords and clouds passing in and out of prominence, and the twin instruments coming to the fore - pass lazily through, unhurried and unworried. Available as a print here.

Floating. The sound is strained and airy, high in the sky. Small islands float impossibly, themselves oddly shaped with indistinct red grass. The clouds feel more solid, and the sky has its own faint pattern. It’s soft and inviting, however strange, and as the soft piano rises, you can feel yourself starting to float with the islands.
