Aleta Pérez is many things - illustrator, screen printer, bike courier - and they do those things in Minneapolis, MN. They've been drawing for as long as they can remember, and graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA in December 2013. The Museum School doesn't have majors, but they mainly specialized in screen printing.
As Firebird Press, Pérez designs and prints gig posters for many bands as well as art prints. Their style is complex, but subtle in a way that requires close inspection. They're known for drawing directly upon the films used to expose screens for printing, and utilizes the imperfect nature of pen upon Acetate to create organic texturing. Even in posters and prints with films produced digitally, opportunities for imperfections are encouraged and utilized. Above all they let the process of screen printing shape and mold the work, rather than striving for an exact replica of the work of the work on paper or on a computer screen.
